Vaasa ferry port lies in Ostrobothnia on Finland's west coast, where the Gulf of Bothnia narrows into the Kvarken strait. From here you can reach Umeå in Sweden. Up to 4 ferries leave each day. The crossing takes about 4 hours. The port is served by Wasaline.

Getting there and the terminal

The terminal is not in the city centre but on the offshore island of Vaskiluoto, around four kilometres west of the centre; the address is Vaskiluodon satamakatu 14, 65170 Vaasa. The way there is signposted from the city centre. Inside the port area, cars and freight vehicles take separate lanes to check-in, so follow the signs. In front of the building there is a paid, unsupervised car park; you pay at the machine or by app, and it is run by the City of Vaasa. The terminal opens two hours before departure. For late arrivals between midnight and two in the morning there is no connecting bus, so plan on a taxi.

Check-in

Wasaline opens check-in at the latest two hours before departure. On foot you must have checked in no later than 30 minutes before departure; with a vehicle you have to be at the vehicle gates at least an hour beforehand.
