Vardetangen lies in the municipality of Austrheim in Vestland and is an intermediate stop on Norway's dense network of express boats. From here you can reach 18 destinations, among them Bergen, Balestrand, Askvoll and Florø. Together the services add up to as many as 47 departures a day, and journeys take between 15 minutes and 4 hours. The berth is served by Norled.
Getting there and the terminal
One thing to know first: Vardetangen is not a village but a headland on the Lindås peninsula on the Fensfjord, west of the Mongstad industrial site. It is considered the westernmost point of the Norwegian mainland. So do not expect a settlement with a terminal building, but a quay on the open fjord. Norled's boats call at the quay at Vardetangen; there is a car park at the berth, and the headland can be reached by car from Bergen.
The stop belongs to the inner coastal route between Bergen and the Sognefjord, which Norled runs as the Bergen - Sogn - Flåm express boat line. Many of the destinations listed only add up over this one line with a change on the way, so look at the timetable before you travel: not every destination has a direct service every day.
