Vathi ferry port is at the island capital of Samos in the northern Aegean, a few nautical miles from the Turkish coast. From here you can reach 18 destinations, among them Kusadasi, Agios Kirikos and Chios. Together the services add up to as many as 42 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 20.5 hours: the most frequent is the short run to Kusadasi, which crosses the external border of the EU, and the longest is the service to Kavala on the Greek mainland. In between are the routes to Ikaria, Fournoi, Chios, Lesbos, Kos, Leros, Lemnos and Mykonos, plus the short crossing to Karlovassi, the second ferry port on Samos itself. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways, Ido, Makri Travel and Meander Travel.
Check-in
Hellenic Seaways asks you to be in the boarding area at least one hour before departure, with a vehicle as well as on foot. Tickets are not issued on board, so buy them before you travel. For the trip to Turkey you need a valid travel document, because Samos is an external border of the EU here.
