Venice Santa Lucia is the landing stage at the head of the Grand Canal in Venice, named after the railway station beside it. Consorzio Vidali Group links it with Venice San Marco at the other end of the canal. There are up to 3 sailings a day and the trip takes around 15 minutes.
Getting there and the terminal
Venezia Santa Lucia station stands at the western end of the Grand Canal in the Cannaregio sestiere, right on the water. From the forecourt, Santiago Calatrava's Ponte della Costituzione crosses the canal to Piazzale Roma. The landing stages of the city's vaporetti and the water taxis are directly in front of the station building, so you can step off the train and onto the water without a detour.
That is what makes this port unusual: it is not a harbour on the edge of the city but a stop in the middle of the old town. On the Venetian side you carry your luggage over bridges and steps, and cars cannot get to the water.
