Ventspils ferry port lies in north-western Latvia on the Baltic, where the Venta flows into the sea. The berth belongs to the Ostgals district. For travellers, Ventspils is above all Latvia's bridgehead to Sweden: from here you can reach Nynäshamn, up to 2 times a day, and the crossing takes about 8.5 hours. The route is operated by Stena Line.
Getting there and the terminal
The passenger terminal is at Dārzu iela 6, less than a kilometre from the city centre. From Riga you come in on the A10, from Liepāja on the P111, and the E22 European route leads straight up to the port; on site, follow the signs for "Prāmju terminālis". The intercity bus station is a seven-minute walk away, so the terminal is easy to reach without a car as well. Parking at the terminal is free, for a short stop and a long one alike. If you arrive by vehicle, follow the "Uz prāmi" signs inside the port and complete registration at the drive-through booths without getting out. Have your travel documents ready while you do. The terminal is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 23:00 and on Sundays from 12:00 to 22:30.
