Location
Vikøyri, Vestland

Vik lies on the southern shore of the Sognefjord in Vestland; the administrative centre of the municipality is called Vikøyri and stretches along the water. From here you can reach 12 destinations, among them Balestrand, Bergen, Lavik and Flåm. Together the services run up to 37 departures a day, and the sailings take between 15 minutes and 3.5 hours. The berth is served by Norled.

Getting there and the terminal

By water, Vik belongs to the express boat route between Bergen and the Sognefjord that Norled runs as far as Flåm. It is only 15 minutes to Balestrand on the other side of the fjord, but three and a half hours to Bergen.

By land you reach Vik on the Riksvei 13, which runs from Voss over the Vikafjell. It opened in 1957 and is still the only road link to Vik that manages without a ferry across the fjord. If you are coming from the east, keep an eye on the route in winter: the pass is high and exposed. Every other road to Vik uses one of the fjord ferries, which explains how important the berth in the village centre is.
