Vulcano ferry port is on the southernmost of the Aeolian Islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, closer to Sicily than any other island in the archipelago. From here you can reach 14 destinations, among them Lipari, Milazzo and Salina, plus Panarea, Stromboli, Alicudi and Filicudi as well as Messina, Reggio Calabria and Naples. Together the services add up to as many as 216 departures a day, and crossings take between 15 minutes and 14.25 hours. The port is served by Liberty Lines, Siremar and SNAV.

Getting there and the terminal

The landing place is Porto di Levante, the island's main berth. Liberty Lines runs its desk on Via Porto di Levante, operated by the Thermessa Viaggi agency; it is open daily from 06:20 to 20:10. That is also where you buy tickets if you have not booked online in advance.

Check-in

Liberty Lines asks you to be at the boarding point at least 15 minutes before departure, and 45 minutes on international routes; after that, carriage is no longer guaranteed. Checking in with the on-board staff is compulsory, and you may show your boarding pass on your phone, but it is issued to you personally. If you need assistance, be there 30 minutes beforehand; at some ports, families with children under three can board first. Luggage goes in the areas provided and is collected again when you disembark.
