Ferries to Zadar

Zadar ferry port lies on the Adriatic coast of northern Dalmatia. From here you can reach 12 destinations, among them Sali, Zaglav and Silba as well as Ancona on the Italian side. Together the services run up to 34 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 4.75 hours. The port is served by Jadrolinija, Krilo Kapetan Luka and TP Line.

Getting there and the terminal

Ferry traffic no longer uses the old quay on the old town peninsula but the Putnička luka Gaženica to the south-east. The port authority, Lučka uprava Zadar, gives the distance as 3.5 kilometres to the city centre and 10 kilometres to the airport, and points to the direct connection to the A1 motorway. Gaženica has been in operation since April 2015 and has handled international traffic since July 2015; the terminal building opened in March 2019. Jadrolinija has two points of contact in Zadar: the ticket office at Liburnska obala 7 in the old town and the port of Gaženica at Gaženička cesta 28c. In the operator's timetable every Zadar service carries the suffix Gaženica, including the one to Ancona.

Check-in

On the Croatian routes with reservations, Jadrolinija recommends being at the port at least 45 minutes before departure. Where no reservation is possible, the operator advises one to two hours, and more in high season, because there boarding follows the order of arrival. For the international route to Ancona, check-in opens two hours before departure; you only receive the actual ticket there in exchange for the booking confirmation.
