Estación Marítima im Hafen von Algeciras
Location
Algeciras, Campo de Gibraltar, Andalusien

Algeciras ferry port is in Andalusia on the west shore of the Bay of Algeciras, opposite Gibraltar. It is the most important crossing point between Europe and North Africa: there are up to 64 departures a day to Tanger Med and up to 44 to Ceuta, up to 108 departures in all. Crossings take between one hour and 1.5 hours. The port is served by Africa Morocco Link, Balearia, DFDS and Naviera Armas.

Getting there and the terminal

Coming from the direction of Málaga or Jerez, you cross a river before the town; from there signs point to the port. Keep left, drive through the tunnel and keep left again, and you are at the port entrance. Algeciras railway station is around 800 metres from the Estación Marítima. Inside the port there are two public car parks: a covered one opposite the quay and an open one to the right of the Estación Marítima, both guarded around the clock. Outside are the Parking del Carmen, about a quarter of an hour on foot, and the Verboom car park 800 metres away.

Check-in

There is a security check at the port entrance, with the Estación Marítima behind it. None of the operators publishes a fixed check-in deadline for Algeciras split by vehicle and foot passenger; for the crossing to Tanger Med, DFDS recommends being at the port no later than 90 minutes before departure. On the Morocco ferries, allow extra time for border control.
