Almeria ferry port lies on the Andalusian south coast, with the berth in the Almedina district. From here you cross to North Africa: to Nador in six hours, to the Spanish exclave of Melilla in 5.5 hours, plus Ghazaouet and Oran in Algeria. Together the services run up to 12 departures a day, and crossings take between 5.5 and 12 hours. The port is served by Africa Morocco Link, Balearia, Grandi Navi Veloci and Naviera Armas.
Getting there and the terminal
Passengers are handled in the Estación Marítima on the Muelle de Levante. The two-storey building houses the ticket desks, an information point, waiting halls, a cafeteria and duty-free; gangways lead on board. By car you come off the A-7 (E-15) at exit 438 towards Puerto/Almería and then follow the signs to the Muelle Comercial. The airport is about ten kilometres away, and a taxi rank belongs to the terminal. The port has moved public parking to the Muelle de Ribera II west of the Estación Marítima: more than 600 spaces, with vehicle access via the Rotonda de Pescadería and pedestrian access at the port gate opposite the fountain roundabout.
Check-in
Almeria is an external Schengen border, so passengers are processed early. Grandi Navi Veloci requires you to be at the port four hours before departure with a vehicle and three hours without; check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. Customs and police checks for vehicles are immediately beside the terminal building, while foot passengers are processed inside it.
