Ao Nang Beach

Resort

Ao Nang Beach ferry port lies on the Andaman coast of the Thai province of Krabi. Nine destinations can be reached directly from here, almost all of them islands: Koh Phi Phi is the most frequently served with eight departures a day, followed by Koh Lanta, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai, Koh Ngai, Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Bulon and, as the longest connection, Koh Lipe near the Malaysian border. Together the routes add up to as many as 24 departures a day. The shortest crossings take 1.75 hours, the longest 5.75 hours. The speedboats are run by Andaman Wave Master and the Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club.

Getting there and the terminal

The berth is called Nopparat Thara Pier, and it does not lie on the village beach of Ao Nang but at neighbouring Hat Nopparat Thara, around four kilometres from the hotels of the village. Allow for that journey even if your ticket simply says Ao Nang. Neither operator publishes how early you have to be at the pier: ask when you buy your ticket, and be generous with speedboats.
