Bangkok Khao San appears in the timetable like a port, but it is a departure point in the middle of the Thai capital. From here you can reach 8 destinations, among them Koh Chang, Koh Kood and Koh Tao. Together the connections add up to as many as 43 departures a day. The journeys take between 6 and 17 hours. They are operated by Boonsiri High Speed Ferries, Lomprayah High Speed Ferries, Raja Ferry and Seudamgo.
Getting there and the terminal
There is no berth here. Khao San stands for the operators' offices in the old-town district around Khao San Road, and what you book is a chain of bus and ship. That explains the long times in the timetable: several hours of road travel lie between the office and the ferry.
Heading east, Boonsiri High Speed Ferries leaves its office on Khao San Road at 5am and 8am. The journey to Koh Kood takes seven to eight hours, five to six of them on the bus and around one on the ferry; you land at Ao Salad pier. Heading south to the Gulf islands, the route runs via Chumphon: Lomprayah takes you by bus to its own pier at Thung Makham Noi and on from there by catamaran. The calls are Mae Haad, Thong Sala, Na Thon and Maenam.
