Getting there and the terminal
The name says it: this is not a port but the old Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok's Pinklao district, west of the Chao Phraya. Lomprayah lists Bangkok (Pinklao) and Bangkok (Khaosan) as the city's two departure points; the second is on Rambuttri Road in the backpacker quarter. Which one applies to you is on your ticket, and the two are on opposite sides of the river.
The link to the Gulf islands combines two legs: a coach from Bangkok to the operator's own berth in Chumphon, then a change to the fast catamaran for Koh Tao, Ko Phangan or Koh Samui. That is why the timetable shows journey times of ten to twelve hours. By far the greater part of that is overland, not at sea.
