- Internationaler Touristenhafen Beppu (Westende der Beppu-Bucht), Bushaltestelle Beppu-Verkehrszentrum / Sunflower-Terminal
Beppu ferry port lies at the western end of Beppu Bay on Kyushu in Japan, against the backdrop of the hot-spring town. From here you can reach Yawatahama on Shikoku, with a ferry leaving up to 12 times a day. The crossing takes around 2.75 hours. The port is served by Uwajima-Unyu Ferries.
Getting there and the terminal
The ferries leave from Beppu International Tourist Port, and that is not by the station but out on the water. By taxi from JR Beppu station you are there in around ten minutes. By bus, take stand 5 at the station's east exit: Kamenoi Bus routes 20 and 26 run to the port from there, a journey of about a quarter of an hour. At the port is the Beppu transport centre with shops, restaurants and free parking for cars and coaches. The paid car parks right by the terminals, by contrast, are in short supply, which makes arriving by bus or train the more relaxed choice.
