Chean Vanich Pier ferry port is in Thailand and bundles services along the Andaman coast. From here you can reach 8 destinations: Koh Phi Phi in 45 minutes, Koh Lanta in an hour and a half, plus Railay Beach, Ao Nang and Ao Nam Mao Pier near Krabi, the ferry port of Pakbara, Trang airport and, as the longest trip, Koh Lipe far to the south in seven and a half hours. Together the services add up to as many as 17 departures a day. The port is served by Tigerline Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
The name says nothing about the location, and the location comes as a surprise: the berth does not belong to the mainland but to Phuket. It is in Rassada subdistrict in Mueang Phuket district, the district of the island's capital. For planning purposes that is the decisive point. If you are in Krabi, Ao Nang or Railay and book a service from Chean Vanich, you are not booking a departure near you but a trip that starts on Phuket. Seen the other way round, the pier is a convenient starting point for anyone already on Phuket: the drive from Phuket Town is short, and from here the Tigerline boats serve both the islands off Krabi and the chain further south towards Satun in one run.
