Ferries to Cuxhaven

Cuxhaven lies in Lower Saxony on the North Sea. From here you can reach the island of Neuwerk, with Reederei Cassen Eils and in around two hours. The service runs from April to October, once or twice a day.

Getting there and the berth

The most important sentence for this trip: it does not leave from the ferry port but from the Alte Liebe in the centre of Cuxhaven. Cassen Eils gives "Bei der Alten Liebe 12, 27472 Cuxhaven" as the destination for your satnav. Follow the signs to the ferry port and you end up at a different address, on the Cassen-Eils-Straße.

By car you come in on the A27 or the B73. There is parking nearby, among others at the Alter Hafen. From Cuxhaven station it is around 20 minutes on foot to the Alte Liebe, and the KVG bus route 1006 takes you to the stop of the same name.

Check-in

The operator gives no fixed check-in times for the Neuwerk service. Allow some slack all the same: the departure depends on the tide and therefore changes from day to day, and with one or two sailings a day there is no next chance an hour later. Book in advance and your place is secure.
