Hakata Port International Terminal, Okihama-machi 14-1, Hakata-ku

Hakata ferry port lies in Fukuoka on Kyushu and is Japan's bridgehead to South Korea. From here you can reach Busan. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes around 6 hours. The port is served by Camellia Line.

Getting there and the terminal

For Busan it is not the domestic berth that applies but the Hakata Port International Terminal at the Chuo Pier, Okihama-machi 14-1 in Hakata ward. From Hakata station, bus route 88 runs there in about 20 minutes from the stop in front of the Nishi-Nippon City Bank, and from the Tenjin centre route 80 takes 15 to 20 minutes; both routes are also served by the BRT express bus. If you come by car, the terminal has a 24-hour car park with 153 spaces, paid for at the machine, cashless or in cash.

Check-in

Passengers are processed at the Camellia Line counter on the ground floor of the terminal. The operator requires you to have completed check-in no later than 60 minutes before departure. After that you go up to the first floor with your passport for exit control and board via the boarding bridge. Because this is an international service, the time buffer here is not a recommendation but a precondition for customs and border formalities.
