SeaLink-Terminal, 37 Ara Tai Road, Half Moon Bay, East Auckland; Gegenstelle Kennedy Point, Donald Bruce Road, Waiheke

The ferry port of Half Moon Bay lies in the east of Auckland in New Zealand. From here you reach Waiheke, with a ferry leaving up to 20 times a day. The crossing takes around an hour. The port is served by Sealink NZ.

Getting there and the terminal

The terminal is at 37 Ara Tai Road in Half Moon Bay, about a 30 minute drive from central Auckland and roughly 35 minutes from the airport. On public transport you can get here from Howick, Pakuranga and Botany. It is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm and has a ticket desk, indoor and outdoor waiting areas, toilets, bike racks and step-free access.

You cannot park at the terminal itself. Spaces are available in the surrounding marina area, immediately next door with a 14 hour maximum stay, and for longer stays in the side streets further up. On Waiheke the ferry berths at Kennedy Point on Donald Bruce Road, on the south side of the island in Putiki Bay. This is the route on which you can bring your car.

Check-in

Sealink wants vehicles at the terminal 30 minutes before departure and foot passengers 20 minutes before. Heavy vehicles need 60 minutes of lead time. Boarding closes 20 minutes before departure for vehicles and 15 minutes before for foot passengers; after that the operator may refuse carriage. If you have a vehicle, a marshal will direct you into the loading lanes.
