Koh Lipe lies in the south of the Andaman Sea near the border with Malaysia and is the transport hub of the island world around Tarutao National Park. From here you can reach 22 destinations, among them Pakbara on the mainland, Hat Yai airport, Koh Lanta, Koh Mook, Koh Phi Phi, Phuket and Langkawi in Malaysia. Together the services run up to 99 departures a day. Journeys take between one hour and 8.5 hours. The port is served by Bundhaya Speed Boat, Ploysiam Speedboat, Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club and Tigerline Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
There is no ferry terminal in the usual sense. The speedboats from Langkawi come alongside at the southern end of Pattaya Beach. The larger ferries are met off the island by longtail boats that take you to the point on Koh Lipe you want; this last stretch is not included in the ferry ticket and is paid to the boatman. The main way in from the mainland is the pier at Pak Bara, from where the trip takes around 90 minutes. Bring cash for your arrival, and expect to walk the last few metres through the water.
