Koh Phangan ferry port in the Gulf of Thailand is the island's main berth and is densely served. From here you can reach 5 destinations, among them Donsak on the mainland, neighbouring Koh Samui and, with an overnight change, Koh Kood. Together the connections add up to as many as 37 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes to Koh Samui and 24 hours to Koh Kood. 5 operators call at the port, among them Lomprayah High Speed Ferries, Raja Ferry and Seatran Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Thong Sala Pier. Both Seatran Ferry and Raja Ferry list it under that name as their call point on Koh Phangan, so the operators agree here. On the other side they do not: from the mainland the ships leave from Donsak, where Seatran runs a berth of its own, and on Koh Samui Seatran docks at Nathon while Raja Ferry docks at Lipa Noi. So if you change over Samui, your choice of operator decides which end of the island you arrive at. Check that before you combine two tickets from different providers.
Check-in
With five operators there is no common check-in rule. What is documented is the figure from Seatran Ferry: if you are taking a vehicle in one of the risk categories it lists, you have to be at the berth at least 45 minutes before departure. As a foot passenger you go by the deadline on your ticket.
