- Kuroshima-Hafen (黒島港)
Kuroshima ferry port lies on Kuroshima in Japan. From here you can reach Ishigaki. A ferry leaves up to 6 times a day. The crossing takes around 30 minutes. The port is served by Yaeyama Kanko Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
The starting point on the other side is the island terminal in the port of Ishigaki (石垣港離島ターミナル), from which the neighbouring islands of the Yaeyama group are served. Allow 25 to 30 minutes for the crossing to Kuroshima.
The berth on the island is called simply Kuroshima Port. Kuroshima is flat and small, which makes the bicycle the usual way to get around; you will find a hire shop near the port. From there it is about three minutes to Nishi-no-hama beach, around ten to the visitor centre and between 15 and 25 to the lighthouse. Many places to stay collect their guests at the port and bring them back for their departure.
Check-in
Foot passengers buy their ticket before departure at the island terminal in Ishigaki. Each operator has its own counter there, so you buy at the desk of the company you are sailing with and not at a joint sales point. Allow time for that.
