The ferry port of Laem Sok in the Thai province of Trat is one of the departure ports for the islands in the east of the Gulf of Thailand. From here you can reach Koh Mak in 45 minutes and Koh Kood in one hour, both daily. Together the services add up to as many as 12 departures a day. The port is served by Boonsiri High Speed Ferries and Seudamgo.
Getting there and the terminal
The pier lies outside the provincial capital Trat, in Tambon Ao Yai in Mueang Trat district. Boonsiri gives the address as 198 Mu 6, Ao Yai, Mueang Trat. Type only "Trat" into your satnav and you end up in the town, not at the pier. Use the address, not the name of the place.
Check-in
Boonsiri High Speed Ferries requires you to be at the designated check-in point at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. If you are coming from Trat or from the airport, allow extra time, because the fast boats do not wait. There are twice as many departures to Koh Kood as to Koh Mak; which of them runs on your day is in the timetable further down.
