Los Cristianos is in the south of Tenerife in the municipality of Arona and is the interchange for the western Canaries. From here you reach San Sebastian de la Gomera in 45 minutes, plus Santa Cruz de La Palma and Valverde on El Hierro. Together the services add up to as many as 40 departures a day, and crossings take between 45 minutes and 2.5 hours. The port is served by Balearia, Fred Olsen Express and Naviera Armas.

Getting there and the terminal

The port belongs to the Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. For its sailings to La Gomera and La Palma, Fred Olsen Express gives the address as Calle del Espigón at the Muelle del Puerto de Los Cristianos in Arona, postcode 38650. The berth is therefore in the town itself and not in a separate industrial harbour.

Check-in

Fred Olsen Express requires you to be ready to board 20 minutes before departure, or 40 minutes with a vehicle. For the longer crossings between the Canaries and mainland Spain, one hour applies to passengers and vehicles alike, with three recommended. If you are travelling between the islands and are not sure which operator you are sailing with, 40 minutes is the safe figure.
