Malaga

Town port

Location
Malaga, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Andalusien

The ferry port of Malaga lies in Andalusia on Spain's Mediterranean coast, and it sits right in the city: less than a kilometre separates the berth from the centre. From here you can reach Melilla, the Spanish exclave on the North African coast. It is the only ferry route bookable from Malaga, but a reliable one: up to 2 departures a day are on offer, and sailings run six or seven days a week. The crossing takes around 6 hours. The port is served by Balearia.

For foot passengers this position is an advantage. Unlike many ferry ports, the berth is not far outside the city but on the edge of the centre, so the railway station, the old town and the seafront promenade stay within reach and you do not have to build a transfer leg into your onward journey.

If you are driving, still allow time for the final stage. Your ticket states which terminal and which gate apply to your sailing. Check that before you set off rather than relying on the place name or a map app, and factor the distances inside the port area into your timing.
