Matsuyama ferry port serves the largest city on the Japanese island of Shikoku and connects it with Honshu across the Seto Inland Sea. From here you can reach Hiroshima and Kure. Together the services add up to as many as 53 departures a day. Crossings take between 2 and 2.5 hours. The port is served by Setonaikai Kisen.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Matsuyama Kanko Port and is not by the city centre but out on the coast in the Takahama district, at 5-2259-1 Takahamamachi. On the Iyotetsu Takahama line from Matsuyama-shi station you need around 21 minutes to the terminus at Takahama, and from there a connecting bus takes two minutes to the terminal. There is also a limousine bus from Dogo Onsen and from the railway stations, which is about 43 minutes on the road. By taxi you are there in 20 to 25 minutes. The terminal has a car park with 266 spaces.
Check-in
Setonaikai Kisen opens check-in 30 minutes before departure; it has to be completed 20 minutes before, and boarding begins 10 minutes before departure. For the ferry, boarding is on the quay to the left outside Gate C on the second floor.
