The ferry port of Melilla is the sea bridge from the Spanish enclave on the North African coast to the mainland. From here you can reach three Andalusian ports: Motril in 5 hours, Almería in 5.5 hours and Málaga in 6 hours, the last of these with the densest service. Together the services add up to as many as 6 departures a day. The port is served by Balearia and Naviera Armas. Málaga is called at on six days of the week, Almería on around three and a half and Motril on a good three.
Getting there and the terminal
The Estación Marítima stands at the Muelle Ribera, the quay immediately in front of the city. The 2008 building spreads 14,400 square metres over three levels: a departures zone, a separate arrivals area and a floor with restaurants, shops and the offices of the operators and the security authorities. Balearia has its desk on the ground floor. In front of the terminal is a car park with 150 spaces, free for up to three hours; if you leave the car longer, you need another solution. The port administration is based on Avenida de la Marina Española.
