Motril ferry port lies on the Costa Tropical in Andalusia and is the only seaport in the province of Granada. It is aimed almost entirely at North Africa: from here you can reach Nador and Al Hoceima in Morocco as well as the Spanish exclave of Melilla. Together the services run up to 6.5 departures a day, and crossings take between 5 and 6 hours. The port is served by Naviera Armas.
Getting there and the terminal
The port has the address Recinto Portuario, 18613 Motril. The port authority states a direct link to the A-7 motorway, which runs onto the port site without passing through the town. From Granada you are there in about 30 minutes, from Málaga and Almería in around 45 minutes, and from Madrid in four hours. The three nearest airports are close by as well: Granada a good 40 minutes, Málaga and Almería about 50 minutes each. Motril has no railway station of its own; the nearest stations, in Granada, Málaga, Almería and Linares-Baeza, are within an hour and a half. So plan your approach by road or hire car.
