The ferry port of Nakhon Si Thammarat is in Thailand. From here you can reach Koh Samui and Ko Phangan. Together the services add up to as many as 12 departures a day. Crossings take between 4 and 5.5 hours. The port is served by Seatran Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
Nakhon Si Thammarat has no ferry berth of its own, and that is the most important information on this page. What is listed here as a port is the starting point of a combined bus-and-boat service. Under the name Seatran Coach, Seatran runs bus routes from the town and the airport of Nakhon Si Thammarat that connect with the ferry to Koh Samui; the same company also works the route from Surat Thani.
You do not board a ship until Don Sak ferry port in the neighbouring province of Surat Thani. From there it goes to the Seatran berth at Nathon on Koh Samui and on to Ko Phangan. The 4 to 5.5 hours in the timetable are therefore bus and sea time added together, not the crossing alone. What counts for you is the departure of the bus, not that of the ship: miss the bus and you have missed the ferry too.
