The ferry port of Niijima is on the island of the same name in the Japanese Izu chain off Tokyo. From here you can reach 5 destinations: neighbouring Shikinejima in 15 minutes, Toshima in half an hour, Kozushima in 45 minutes, Izu Oshima in an hour and Tokyo in 2.75 hours. Together the services add up to as many as 14 departures a day. The port is served by Tokai Kisen.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Niijima-ko and is the island's usual point of reference: routes and distances on Niijima tend to be given from the port. At the other end, in Tokyo, the ships leave from the Takeshiba passenger terminal, both the fast jetfoil and the large vessel. Which of the two types runs on your day of travel makes a considerable difference to the journey time; the timetable further down shows the actual departures. The neighbouring islands are much quicker to reach than the mainland: Shikinejima is a quarter of an hour away, Toshima half an hour. The services between the islands run less often than those to Tokyo, though, so island hopping has to be thought out from the timetable.
