- Sado-Kisen-Terminal Hafen Ogi, Ogimachi 1950, Sado, Praefektur Niigata
The ferry port of Ogi lies in the south of the island of Sado in Japan. From here you can reach Naoetsu on the mainland. Ferries leave up to 4 times a day and the crossing takes around 2.75 hours. The port is served by Sado Kisen.
Getting there and the terminal
The terminal has the address Ogimachi 1950 in Sado, Niigata Prefecture. Unlike Naoetsu, parking here is free: there is a surface car park right by the building. Without your own vehicle you reach Ogi by local bus; the island bus operator's timetables change with the season, so a look before you travel is worth it. At the terminal itself Sado Kisen hires out cars, which is useful because Sado is large and its towns lie far apart. The operator provides a floor plan of the building as a PDF.
Check-in
Sado Kisen asks travellers with a vehicle to be at the port one hour before departure and to complete check-in by 30 minutes before departure; loading starts 30 to 40 minutes before departure. Foot passengers with a digital ticket need 10 to 20 minutes in hand, while anyone buying at the desk should allow 30 to 40 minutes. The gate to the ship opens 15 to 20 minutes before departure.
