The ferry port of Palma is in the Portopí district and is the largest of the five ports run by the Balearic port authority. From here you can reach 6 destinations. The strongest routes go to the mainland: Valencia (7.5 hours, up to 8 departures a day), Barcelona (7.25 hours, up to 6 departures) and Denia (5.25 hours). Within the Balearics there are services to Ibiza (2.25 hours), Formentera (3.5 hours) and Mahon on Menorca (6 hours). Together the services add up to as many as 24 departures a day, and crossings take between 2.25 and 7.5 hours. The port is served by Balearia, Grandi Navi Veloci and Trasmed.
Getting there and the terminal
The port is close to the city: the port authority gives one kilometre to the centre and ten kilometres to the airport. The site is divided into the commercial quays, the Ponent quays, the marina and the western mole, and it has six check-in buildings. Which one your operator uses is stated on your booking confirmation, and it is worth looking that up before you set off: the buildings are not next to each other. The port administration is based at Moll Vell.
