Phuket ferry port lies on the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand and is the starting point for the islands off the west coast. From here you can reach 15 destinations, among them Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Ao Nang, Koh Lipe and Langkawi in Malaysia. Together the services run up to 155 departures a day, and crossings take between 45 minutes and 8.25 hours. 6 operators call at the port, among them Andaman Wave Master, Bundhaya Speed Boat and Chaokoh Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
The boats do not leave from the holiday beaches but from Rassada Pier. Chaokoh Ferry lists it in its timetable as the departure point for the Phi Phi services, and Seatran Discovery runs it as a check-in station of its own. Allow plenty of time for the journey from your hotel to the pier — Phuket is large and the traffic into town is slow.
Not every ticket is used at the quayside. Seatran Discovery checks some of its passengers in at the Phuket Terminal 2 bus station, at the Panthip desk, and takes them to the ship from there. Lomprayah keeps its Phuket office in Moo 4 in the Vichit subdistrict of Mueang Phuket and opens there from early morning until evening. Where you have to report is on your booking, not at the port.
