The ferry port of Playa Blanca lies at the southern tip of Lanzarote and is the gateway to Fuerteventura: from here you can reach Corralejo, with ferries leaving up to 64 times a day. The crossing takes around 30 minutes. The port is served by Balearia, Fred Olsen Express, Lineas Romero and Naviera Armas.
Getting there and the terminal
The port belongs to the municipality of Yaiza and is run by the Puertos Canarios harbour authority. There are 60 car parking spaces on the site, along with places to eat and car hire desks. Without your own car you can get right up to the ship: bus routes 60 from Arrecife and 161 from the airport both end at the Muelle de Playa Blanca stop, a good three minutes beyond the town's bus station. From Arrecife the journey takes about 55 minutes, from the airport's Terminal 1 around 50 minutes.
Check-in
The most specific deadlines for this port come from Fred Olsen Express: as a foot passenger you have to be ready to board 20 minutes before departure, and a vehicle has to be on the quay 40 minutes before. Miss those times and you lose your booking with no replacement. With a car you should therefore be at the port a good three quarters of an hour before departure; on foot half an hour is comfortably enough.
