The ferry port of Playa Santiago lies on the south coast of La Gomera in Spain, in the municipality of Alajeró. From here you can reach San Sebastian de la Gomera and Valle Gran Rey. Together the services add up to as many as 12 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 and 45 minutes. The port is served by Fred Olsen Express.
Getting there and the terminal
The village lies on the south coast surrounded by mountains and is the port closest to La Gomera's airport. Besides the ferry berth there is a marina. The ferry serves Playa Santiago as an intermediate stop on the island route: it links the island capital San Sebastián in the east with Valle Gran Rey in the west, so from the south coast you can get away in both directions.
Check-in
Fred Olsen Express requires foot passengers to be checked in and ready to board at least 20 minutes before departure. With a vehicle you have to be on the quay 40 minutes beforehand. The operator is strict about this: miss the deadline and you lose the booking, with no further claim to be carried.
