- Rangitoto Wharf; Downtown Ferry Terminal Auckland, Pier 13
Rangitoto ferry port lies on the volcanic island of the same name in the Hauraki Gulf off Auckland, New Zealand. From here you can reach Auckland. Up to 6 ferries leave each day. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. The port is served by Fullers360.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Rangitoto Wharf and lies at the southern end of the island. On the city side the boats leave from the Downtown Ferry Terminal on Quay Street, where Fullers360 uses Pier 13. From the city centre the trip takes just under half an hour; a few morning departures go via Devonport, from where it is around 20 minutes. Rangitoto has counted as free of introduced pests since 2011, so a biosecurity rule applies before you board: check and close your bags and food containers, and keep your shoes free of soil and seeds. There are no shops and no drinking water on the island; toilets are at the wharf and near the summit. Take one to two litres of water with you if you walk up to the crater: the Summit Track starts right at the berth and is reckoned at around 7 kilometres and about two hours there and back.
