Sassnitz ferry port lies on Rügen on the Baltic Sea, more precisely in the Mukran ferry port around five kilometres south of the town. From here you can reach Rønne on Bornholm. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day and the crossing takes around 3.25 hours. The port is served by Bornholmslinjen.

Getting there and the terminal

For arrival by car, Bornholmslinjen gives the address Im Fährhafen 20, 18546 Sassnitz. Sassnitz-Mukran has signposted car parks with no time limit, and from there you reach the passenger terminal on foot. You may stop right at the terminal entrance to drop off and pick up; the access road runs across the car park and is free of charge for 30 minutes. One important point: Sassnitz is an unstaffed port. Cash is not accepted, and you cannot buy a ticket at the check-in machines, so book in advance. There is no baggage service here or in Rønne — you carry your luggage on board yourself.

Check-in

For standard, flex and low-price tickets, for vehicles up to 2.95 metres high and 3.5 tonnes, and for pedestrians and cyclists, you must have checked in at Sassnitz no later than 20 minutes before departure. 30 minutes apply to electric cars with a reserved charging space, to accessible vehicles, to pedestrians needing assistance and to coaches, lorries and trailers. The deadlines count from the scheduled departure time, even if the ferry is running late.
