The ferry port of Tabarca Island lies off the coast of Alicante in the Valencian Community. From here you sail to Santa Pola: up to 8 departures a day, around 30 minutes' crossing time, operated by Transtabarca.
Getting there and the terminal
Tabarca is a narrow strip of land, 1,800 metres long and 400 metres at its widest, about 30 hectares in all. Boats tie up in the island's harbour, right next to the walled village centre, which is protected as a historic-artistic ensemble. The restaurants and the few places to stay are by the harbour, and everything else is within walking distance.
On the mainland you start in Santa Pola on Avenida Fernando Pérez Ojeda, where the operators of the short crossing have their berths and ticket desks, Transtabarca among them. Boats to the island also run from the port of Alicante, and then the trip takes about an hour. Outside the summer season Santa Pola is the reliable starting point, because departures from Alicante thin out. The island lies south-east of Cape Santa Pola, around eight miles from the city of Alicante.
