Ferries to Tanjung Balai

The ferry port of Tanjung Balai is in Indonesia, on the island of Karimun in Riau province. From here you can reach the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore. There are up to 4 sailings a day and the crossing takes around 1.5 hours. The port is served by Sindo Ferry.

Getting there and the terminal

The operator lists the berth under its full name, Tanjung Balai Karimun Ferry Terminal, address Jl. Trikora. The Karimun part belongs to the name and helps when you search: it ties the port to the island rather than to a place of the same name elsewhere in Indonesia. Sindo Ferry's desk in the terminal is staffed daily from 6:30 to 14:00, which covers the early departures of the day.

On the other side the crossing ends at the HarbourFront Centre, 5 HarbourFront Avenue #01-11 in Singapore. The operator's desk there is open daily from 7:00 to 21:30. As this is an international route, passports and entry formalities are part of the process at both ends; allow time for them on top of the crossing itself.
