The ferry port of Travemünde belongs to Lübeck and, as the Skandinavienkai, is one of the largest ferry ports in Europe. From here you can reach 6 destinations, among them Malmo, Trelleborg and Helsinki. Together the services add up to as many as 20 departures a day. Crossings take between 8.75 and 31 hours. The port is served by Finnlines, Stena Line and TT-Line.
Getting there and the terminal
The address is Skandinavienkai, Zum Hafenplatz 1, 23570 Lübeck-Travemünde, around 20 kilometres from the centre of Lübeck. Coming from Hamburg you take the A1 to the Bad Schwartau interchange, then the A226 towards Travemünde, which becomes the B75, and take the Skandinavienkai-Nord exit; after that turn right onto Travemünder Landstraße and continue to the terminal. By train you travel to Lübeck main station and then take bus 50 from the bus station straight to the terminal, or bus 34 on Sundays. There is no bus connection to the terminal from the Lübeck-Travemünde Skandinavienkai halt, which would be 2.5 kilometres on foot. There is a chargeable long-stay car park at the port, with number plates recorded on entry and exit.
Check-in
At Stena Line, check-in closes 60 minutes before departure, and that applies to all passengers. Finnlines closes one hour before departure for Malmo and two hours before departure for Helsinki. Vehicles over 3.80 metres high check in at the Hafenhaus.
