Valle Gran Rey lies on the south-west coast of La Gomera and is the western end point of the coastal route that Fred Olsen Express runs along the island. From here you can reach Playa Santiago in 45 minutes and the island capital San Sebastián de la Gomera in 75 minutes. Together the services add up to as many as 12 departures a day.

Getting there and the terminal

The name Valle Gran Rey stands for a whole valley with several districts, but ships tie up in only one place: in the harbour village of Vueltas right down by the sea. Fred Olsen Express lists the berth under the address Avenida Marítima el Puerto de Vueltas, 38870 Valle Gran Rey. If you are coming from the higher districts, allow for the drive down to the coast.

At the berth there are parking spaces, a separate waiting area for boarding and a cafetería close by. The harbour opens one hour before each scheduled departure; before that there is nobody there to process you. Because the coastal route is worked by a single fast catamaran, it is cancelled more readily in strong wind or heavy seas than the big services between the islands.
