The ferry port of Vigo is in Galicia in Spain. From here you can reach the Cíes Islands and Ons. Together the routes run a good 15 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. The port is served by Mar de Ons and Naviera Nabia.
Getting there and the terminal
Both operators check in at the Estación Marítima de Vigo, Rúa Cánovas del Castillo without a house number, 36201 Vigo, right on the city-centre waterfront. Naviera Nabia warns that a public parking space is almost impossible to find in Vigo in July and August, and advises arriving half an hour earlier so that you can park in peace; there is also a private car park at each departure quay.
Check-in
Boarding starts 15 minutes before departure. Even with an online booking you have to go to the desk first: that is where the tickets are printed, and where you find out which pontoon your boat leaves from. For the Cíes Islands and for Ons you also need a permit from the Xunta de Galicia between 15 May and 15 September, and you need it before you buy your ticket. Naviera Nabia arranges it free of charge if you book by phone; otherwise you apply for it yourself, up to 45 days in advance and cancellable until 15 days before your visit.
