Cork is in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster, and its port is one of the most important for the south of the country. Several ferry connections a week run from Cork to Roscoff in France, operated by Brittany Ferries.

The ferry port of Dublin, at the Irish capital, is by far the largest and most important port on the island and handles around two thirds of all Irish port traffic. Regular ferry services run from here to England, Wales and France, in particular to Holyhead, as well as seasonally to the Isle of Man and to Cherbourg.
