Ferry ports in Honshu
Ferries to Akita
Akita is a port on the north-west coast of Honshu on the Sea of Japan. Shin Nihonkai Ferry links the city with Niigata, about 7 hours away, and with Tsuruga and Tomakomai on Hokkaido on multi-day routes.
Ferries to Atami
Atami is a popular hot-spring resort on the Izu peninsula in Japan. Ferries run to the nearby island of Hatsushima (30 minutes, about 10 times a day) and to Izu Ōshima. The port is about 15 minutes by bus from the railway station.

Ferries to Kobe
Kobe is a major ferry port in the Kansai region of Japan. Hankyu Ferry sails to Shinmoji near Kitakyushu, MOL Sunflower to Oita. Jumbo Ferry links Kobe with Takamatsu on Shikoku.

Oarai is a port east of Tokyo in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. MOL Sunflower runs overnight ferries to Tomakomai on Hokkaido every day. The crossing over the Pacific takes about 18-20 hours.
